Against scoring teams like elves or rats I'm way more likely to use a well-timed lightning bolt since they tend to either don't cage or spread out their cage for more of a tackle-zone presence rather than the body-block. Against the bashy caging teams I'd almsot never use the lightning bolt even if the enemy is about to score because of the huge presence the fireball has.

In my experience the fireball is an amazing tool that has helped me beat higher TV bashy teams many times. Getting a fireball onto 5 pieces including the ball carrier is a huge turnaround (unless the fireball rolls really bad). The biggest strength of the wizard is the pressure of the potential fireball against a cage. The wizards strength varies against different teams. The original player or a player hit by the scattered zap, becomes a toad until the remainder of the half) (toads were MA 3, ST1, AG4, AV4, dodge stunty leap, no hands, and couldn't assist). Basically you chose a model and rolled a die, on a 4+ it hits, on a 3 or less it scatters that many times. The final spell, Zap!, turned people in toads. It actually had a 5x2 template that came with it, although it wasn't that necessary as far as I remember (maybe it was useful in older versions of the game or in dungeonbowl or something). The lightning bolt basically was shot from the sidelines and hit the closest model unless the wizard player rolls 2 dice and the total is less than the models agility. The fireball worked largely similarly (basically choose a 3x3 grid of squares and everoyne is sort of hit except they make an agility roll instead of 4+ and you used the coin as a template but it worked the same).

They were significantly cheaper (I believe 50k) and had 3 spell options, still one user per game. However, the threat of that one off strike can be invaluable against the right player.īefore LRB 5 wizards worked significantly differently. Well, a one off strike seems vastly inferior to most of the other inducements I could get for the money, barring the very occasional 'oh wow, I just removed 8 players'. I'll generally try to keep hold of it through most of the game if playing against a bashy team to try and discourage caging whereas I'll throw a fireball at an agi team the moment I can hit 4+ players with it.Īs for whether I think they're worth it. The only major exception is when doing so would prevent me buying a wandering apoc vs high tv chaos. Personally I'll take a wizard whenever possible. Do you find it too weak (and if so, what would you generally buy instead?), useful, or overpowered? Do you use them early, save them for the perfect moment, or keep hold of them until the end? Are there certain teams you're more likely to use them with/against? Does either side having a wizard change the way you play at all? I'm rather curious what other BB players make of the wizard. I want to have women on my team full stop! Unless you play as the Amazons, that’s not an option at the moment. We Are Bloodbowl! The Night Goblins, the Orcs, The Elves! We BRING THE PAIN! Be it Electronic or Table-tonic! I want to be able to do a Chelsea-era Mourinho and tell all my players to shave their heads - yes, including the women - if they’re getting too big for their boots. I want to play The Sims with my team and customise every player to the extreme. I want to be able to recognise them on the pitch without having to hover over them and see their name. While I want to be able to field more racially diverse rosters, I also want players who are short, tall, fat, and thin.

Where’s the interesting players? Where’s the fun? Your team’s kit can be fully customised through a heavily-microtransactioned system, but your players all have to be basically the same. That entails scrolling through about ten pasty faces with various lengths of beard, different scars, or eyepatches. You may be fooled into thinking there isn’t a character creator in Blood Bowl 2 - there is! If you create your own team, you can customise any of the players’ names and faces.
